I was reading through some old blog posts of mine when I realized that they were written an entire year ago.
A year ago! Wow!
And when I went back to the official post archives, I found that it’s been over a year since I wrote my very first Substack post, titled Origin Story.
It’s crazy to think that I started writing this as a chronicle of my study abroad European travels, and here we are, an entire year later, still going strong. Thanks to everyone who has been reading about all the random things that happen in my life. It’s been wonderful knowing each one of you and sharing my experiences!
Looking back now, I think that writing this blog has, in fact, made me more adventurous. In the process of writing about my days and travels, I’ve realized that every little part of a day is exciting, and funny enough, going far away has shown me the importance of what’s near. Being by myself in the Alaskan wilderness taught me a ton about the importance of human connection. Flying to Europe for a semester exchange showed me the importance of a supportive family and great friends back home.
Writing about my thoughts has made me think more critically, too. The process of writing fearlessly and editing ruthlessly has made me a better communicator, a stronger reader, and a more creative person overall. Thanks to all of you for being a part of it!
Here is a fun quote from the first edition, written on September 13, 2023:
Storytelling and sharing tales are some of my favorite things (after biking, catching ducks, and petting bunnies). Glad to have you along for the ride.
-Episode 0, Origin Story
Even a year later, it still holds true. I love storytelling, tale-sharing, and duck-catching, and I constantly have even more ideas for what to write about.
Thanks for being on this ride, and let’s go have another great year!
